Aeolian Hall

On September 27, 2011, the Paranormal Knights investigated Aeolian Hall. Built in 1885, the Hall has a very interesting and rich history. Over the years, the building has been home to London’s first public library branch, a variety of businesses, social clubs, and more recently, a performing arts centre (the acoustics are amazing!).

For many years, unexplained activity has been witnessed by both staff members and performance artists in various locations throughout the hall.  Due to the frequency of these events, Aeolian is often referred to as “The Haunted Hall.”

We began our investigation on the ground floor in the main stage area.  The first energy impression was that of a female singer/actress with a beautiful voice – her name is something similar to Maria or Mariah. She is described as being in her late twenties or early thirties, wearing a long white Victorian style gown and holding a white parasol.  Also in this area is a male energy, thought to be a stage-hand named Ken or Kenneth.

Throughout the main floor and basement areas, were strong psychic impressions of a firefighter, possibly a chief, described as in his thirties with dark curly hair. Images of an opening on the main floor with double doors, firemen in full gear seated on a bench outside at the front of the building, a Dalmatian and a pancake breakfast were also described. Horses were detected on the lower level near the rear of the building. We can confirm that Fire Station No. 2 was located on the building’s main level from 1885 to 1946 and did have a double door opening. The back area of the building is where their horses would have been kept and fed.

Energy impressions of an older Jewish couple, who were regular patrons of the Hall and always occupied the same seats, was felt in the balcony area – time frame estimated to be in the 1960s-1970s. Cigarette smoke is also detected here. Social celebrations such as a New Years Eve Ball, political gatherings and a fundraiser were described and confirmed.

In the backstage area, including the green room, multiple images of past acts/performers were shared, including that of a special troupe of acrobatic performers, one of these would have been a well-known family act.  Staff confirmed that, because of the high ceilings, there are acrobatic troupes that perform at Aeolian.

Stepping into the basement of the Hall, psychic images and residual energy describe the era of prohibition.  The scene: “filled with card tables, barrels of alcohol, people gambling and drinking, and a strong sense of having to be secretive about their activities.”

Throughout the location, a general feeling of light, positive energy is constant.  This is credited to the building’s current owners and staff as well as the performers and patrons of the Halls events.  In the area of the artist’s studios, the atmosphere is described as creative with a very positive energy flow.

At the time of this report, research to further validate some of the above information continues.  Updates will be posted at a later date.

We’d like to thank Clark as well as our tour guides, Aggie and John for the opportunity and experience.  Also, thanks to our special guest, London Community News reporter, Jonathon Brodie
