Attic Books
If you are from London, you may be familiar with Attic Books – the antiquarian bookstore housed on Dundas Street. The building that Attic Books occupies dates back to 1875, when it opened as a tailor shop to a man named Abraham Spry. Since that time, there have been a multitude of businesses at 240 Dundas Street, including a butcher, stationary and furniture companies, and a piano seller.
Recently, the Paranormal Knights investigated this location after learning that Attic Books has been the site of strange activity. The smell of cigar smoke is said to waft from one of the corners in the basement and up through the vents, when no one has been smoking a cigar. Books have flown off shelves without explanation and lights have flickered on and off. This activity is said to be caused by a ghost endearingly named, “Roland” who has been provided with a red chair in the corner of the basement where the smell of cigar smoke originates. From time to time, Roland is left books to read by the Attic Books staff.
During our investigation, a Rogers Television crew joined us. They filmed our Psychic as he went room to room, trying to determine the source of the activity that staff had reported at Attic Books. Our Psychic sensed the presence of man wearing a wrist band with a pin cushion on top, his name beginning with an “A”. This may be the original owner of the building Abraham Spry. Our Psychic also sensed that the top floor of the building had been used to unload pianos (the large bay windows swung open at one time) although no paranormal presence was sensed. Downstairs, no contact was made by our Psychic with any paranormal being, however, the television crew’s camera turned off and on twice, which they stated never happens. The equipment was checked, but no anomaly was found.
The mystery of “Roland” thus remains. Perhaps it is Abraham Spry returning to his previous business. It may be that we seek to return to Attic Books in the future to try and unravel this mystery further.
