Brick Street Cemetery

On Commissioners Road West there lies one of the oldest cemeteries in London – Brick Street Cemetery. Burials date back to 1813 and graves include those of Phoebe McNames who risked her life to assist the British troops in the war of 1812 as well as multiple victims from the Victoria Day Steamship Disaster.

The Paranormal Knights investigated Brick Street Cemetery on May 24, 2010, in conjunction with the Victoria Day Steamship Tragedy investigation. However, sometimes what draws you to a place is not what is the most significant in the end.

Upon arriving at Brick Street Cemetery, the team found it difficult to locate the graves of the victims of the Victoria Day Disaster. However, members of our team were immediately drawn to an odd grave in the corner of the cemetery that listed the deaths of a family, all on one gravestone. The stone indicated the deaths of a mother and father, and their four children. All four children had died before the age of one.

While infant deaths were common in the 1800’s, some of the information received by the Psychic members of our team was distressing. Whispers of secrets and “don’t tell” messages were heard and imagery of drowning was seen.

The mystery puzzled the team and historical research was conducted. Our team’s historian obtained death records for 2 of the children. These records indicated that the children had died of “convulsions” and “fits” at the ages of 4 and 6 months. No death records existed for the other 2 children but their birth records had been filed by an older brother who was not buried with the family. In fact, there were 2 sons not buried with the rest of the family, both who lived to be adults.

The questions that remain are thus as follows:

  1. How did the other 2 children listed on the family gravestone die and why don’t death records exist for them?
  2. Why did an older brother (rather than the parents) file the birth records of the youngest 2 children listed on the gravestone?
  3. What happened in these children’s short lives that caused our Psychics to receive messages of distress from energy imprints that remain at the grave?

The family’s history remains a mystery.
