Fanshawe Pioneer Village
Opened in 1959, Fanshawe Pioneer Village has a long and successful history of preservation. If you are a local, it's likely you visited there as a child, or perhaps even as an adult. The Village boasts 30 original and replica buildings on 46 acres of land and the Paranormal Knights were fortunate enough to be granted an invitation to investigate this respected heritage site.
In the Village church, our team sensed the drowning of a small girl. This drowning could have occurred near the church or be related to a family who once visited the church. It was sensed that a man wearing overalls and a blue shirt felt guilty about this young girl's death, as if his actions had somehow led her to drown. Yet, this man was seen wet, as if he had tried to save her. It was further sensed that this drowning occurred in the 1870's and that the little girl's name was "Ann" or "Annabelle". Staff on site confirmed the church was original and had been built in 1872 as the Trinity Anglican Church, located in Sebringville, Ontario. The church was active until 1997 when a decline in parishioners forced its closure. The church was then generously donated to the Fanshawe Pioneer Village.
In the Village brewery, the team found a man named Tom who wanted the help of the team. Tom angrily demanded that we help him get revenge for perceived wrongdoings. Compassion was sent and boundaries were set. We also found this location to be confusing because, as a replica, the objects in the brewery are from different places and eras throughout time. This led to varying and sometimes conflicting energies, which were difficult to separate and understand.
In the Village school, our team picked up an association to the Germans or the Dutch. Staff on site offered a simple explanation in that it is a Dutch construction company who is currently working on an addition to the school. Sometimes the energies found are not from the dead but from the living.
In the Jury House, a little boy tugged on one of our team member's shirt. He was looking for his father. It was sensed his name was "William". In fact, this was the childhood home of Wilfrid Jury – the boy who later in life was a key player in the founding of Fanshawe Pioneer Village. It was also sensed that this house was from Cobourg, Ontario. However, this was incorrect, it was originally located in Lobo Township. There was also the sense that a family fight occurred about money, perhaps linked to merchant interests. It is believed that physical altercations occurred in the name of this fight.
In the Miller House, the presence of an unmarried stern woman, perhaps a Governess or Teacher, was felt. She was sensed to be upset about the placement of the objects in the home and was angry at the team for being there. The house is currently being used to house the medical and surgical equipment of Dr. William Anson Jones, of Clandeboye. Perhaps she is upset about the objects of another man, Dr. Jones, being in her home?
Overall, there were many energies sensed at the Fanshawe Pioneer Village. This is not surprising given the depth of history that is found there. However, none of the energy was harmful nor did we find any malicious spirits. Thank you again to the staff at the Village for kindly allowing the Paranormal Knights to investigate!
