Windermere Manor

In April, 2010, the Paranormal Knights investigated the beautiful Windermere Manor in London, Ontario. Windermere Manor was built in 1925 as a family home to John Smallman who used the nearby land for a horse farm and cash crops. In the early 1970’s the home was bought by the University of Western Ontario and in 1991 was converted to a conference centre, hotel, and restaurant all known as Windermere Manor.

The team’s focus during the investigation was the Grand Hall. Upon arrival, the team’s Energy Reader, Di Riseborough, immediately sensed paranormal energies and sought to investigate. In the hallway upstairs, Di reported the energy of a male who was frightened for being discovered for being a prankster. Di stated it is likely that he tugs shirts, bangs doors, and plays with lights, but has no ill intent.

Di also reported the energy of another male, likely named Joseph. Di stated that Joseph may have been a worker on the Smallman farm and that his family resided on the property. Di reported that Joseph was in despair and missed his family and thus assisted him in crossing over.

The energy of a woman was also felt upstairs, a woman whose name started with an "E", possibly "Evelyn". Di further reported the presence of this woman’s husband, who had a top hat and a special cane that made him recognizable. Di further saw some sort of production happening with barrels. Downstairs, Di felt the energy of a fire in the home after touching the outer stone wall. Di reported seeing the fire and the loss of lives of both children and horses.

Overall, Di reported that there were as many as 12-15 spirits and/or residual energies that remain in Windermere Manor, none of whom are malicious. It is interesting that the man in the top hat that Di reported seeing has been seen before at Windermere Manor and has been nick-named, "Top-Hat Tom". Perhaps this is John Smallman’s father, Thomas? There are also several women in the Smallman family whose name starts with "E", including Eleanor, Elizabeth, and Ellen, the latter the wife of Thomas Smallman. The production barrels Di saw may also be linked with original family as they had been involved in oil production. It is also confirmed that there was a fire in the family home the day before the family moved in. At this time, it is unknown whether any human or livestock deaths occurred in the fire.
